Pimax is the upcoming VR manufacturer that gained impetus from Kickstarter, the crowdfunding site. While it is not yet up there with the VR giants like Oculus and Valve, it is indeed a name that is making head’s turn after CES 2020 providing Most Affordable VR Headset.

Earlier, in 2017 Pimax announced Vision 8K X, which was priced at $1299. However, it failed to make a big impact due to its steep price tag, which placed it away from the purchasing power of the target audience. It initially featured twin 4K displays and an upscale with the ability to deliver a display resolution of almost 16.6 million pixels.

Pimax Artisan Affordable VR Headset

At the 2020 CES, the company claimed that Pimax 8K X has gone into mass production and the VR manufacturer also revealed its Pimax Artisan for an affordable $449. It is an entry-level model, with more than basic features.

How has Artisan helped Pimax up its game? Is Artisan the Most Affordable VR Headset?

The new model, the Artisan, features a housing similar to the Pimax 8K X. The hammerhead housing is rather prominent as compared to the VR headsets of the same price range. With looks inspired by the Primax 8K X, the Artisan will feature lower specs. Here’s what you will get if you Buy Pimax Artisan Headset

  1. 1700 by 1400 pixel display in each eye with low latency and screen door effect
  2. A native 1440p rendering
  3. A wide FOV; 170-degrees diagonally, 140-degrees horizontally, 115-degrees vertically and other lower FOV modes are available
  4. The Pimax Artisan supports 120 Hz, and 90 Hz refresh rates, along with optional 72/64 Hz modes
  5. The Artisan comes with adjustable IPD of 55 to 75 mm
  6. It has hand-tracking and eye-tracking features
  7. Pimax Artisan has NOLO 6DOF tracking facilities with Full Stream VR support
