God’s Own Country Kerala is opening its doors for Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality and Mixed Reality in a bigger way. With the support of government backed Kerala Startup Mission, new technologies are not just developing but progressing fast and moves beyond the conventional sectors. We shall have an insight on Kerala is going to turn into an AR, VR Hub for India.

Project Director of KSUM Kerala Startup Mission , Tom Thomas desires Kerala to be hub for Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality in India at the Unite India 2019 Summit. As per the resources, Thomas was addressing around 1,100 delegates of which most of them belong from developers community. The Summit held included companies which are using these emerging technologies into operations and products.

At the event, Kerala Based Augmented Reality/ Virtual Reality StartUps who are already in the programme shared their experiences with these kind of technologies and highlighted the challenges and opportunities. Few of them even received funding grants from the Kerala Government. In addition, Enrolled Startups got access to Unity’s Commercial Licenses.

Furthermore, KSUM tied up with Unity Technologies to pave a way in making Kerala the centre for excellence earlier this year.

The Institute provides a Six-month Accelerator Programme to Support Enterprise Development in VR, AR and gaming. Apart from the skilling professionals in the country Unity is also engaged with colleges, schools and early learners. This can be used in the Industries likewise automotive design, education, manufacturing, films and animation and among others.

Global head of education for Unity told that India is an important Country for them when it comes to skill development in 3D and AR/ VR Technologies. She even revealed the reason behind them investing in India is that they feel our country could become a vital outsourcing hub for them.

Hoping that things would change in collaboration of KSUM and Unity Technologies a gaming development platform. We would be more than glad if these technologies move beyond conventional technologies and expand their presence.
